Health

Medical Care in Malta is of the highest standard. Health clinics can be found in almost every town and village with the main hospital St. Luke’s in Gwardamangia. There are a number of private hospitals and clinics. Almost all doctors and dentists can speak English and Italian.

Pharmacies are open Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm. On Sunday pharmacies open on a roster system and are listed in the daily newspapers. It is recommended to use sun block while sunbathing for the first few days. Then when acclimatized you can change to a lower factor.

Bring plenty of insect repellent because mosquitoes are a pest but no inoculations are necessary for visitors from Europe, United States, Canada and Australia.
