The Maltese Lira can be divided into 100c in the Maltese currency. The maximum amount that can be brought into the country is Lm50, and Lm 25 can be taken out, any other currencies must be declared upon arrival.

Most banks open from 8.30 to 12.30, Monday to Friday and up till 11.30 on Saturdays but in Tourist areas hours are extended till 6.00 pm. ATM machines can be found in busy areas and in main streets. Most major credit cards are accepted everywhere.
