The Permanent exhibition project (PEP) is the driving force behind the renovation of the National Museum of Archaeology. PEP shall carry the Museum into the 21st century, revitalized as a cultural Resource


Plans for the Renovation of the Museum

The Lobby and the Prehistoric Exhibtion Galleries are projected for completion early in 1998

Nearly 7 Millenia of Malta's Archaeological heritage will be presented. Upper & Lower Level Developments Shall continue through 1999
Maltese and English Labeling is Planned throughout with Italian, French and German audio tours are available.
An Entire Level will be devoted to Temporary exhibits
Plans Include accessibility for the disabled including an elevator in 1999.
To strengthen academic pursuits, a larger and improved research archive is a part of PEP
Further assets for our visitors shall include a 120-150 seat Theatre, a Museum Cafe', Volunteer and Educational Programming.

Key areas being addressed include an emphasis on making the Museum an orientation point facilitating visits to the Surrounding archaeological sites, a new interpretive strategy for the collection, increased research facilities, a public programme and outreach agenda, overall staff improvements and a renovation which highlights many features of the original Auberge.
