Scrooge:
A childhood story brought to life by YouthLinks

Probably everyone knows or has heard of the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the old money lender whose story has given us the exact meaning of a miser. YouthLinks, a youth group from B’Kara are going to bring this story alive on the 18th and 19th of December at the St. Francis Hall in B’Kara.

The story of Scrooge was written by Charles Dickens in the famous book ‘A Christmas Carol’ and it is about this old and crippled man that has money as his only God! Scrooge was a money lender and he fought vigorously for every penny he was due, no matter how rich he was. On a Christmas Eve night the ghost of his old colleague Jacob Marley paid him a little visit to predict the arrival of three other Christmas ghosts. These ghosts symbolized the past, present and future of Scrooge’s Christmas. After a whole night wondering with these ghosts Scrooge learned a lesson from each of them and he became beautiful example to all other humans!

This story will be put to life by YouthLinks, a strong 50 member youth group from B’Kara, aged between 14 and 20. This group makes part of the Franciscan community in B’Kara and has as his Spiritual Director Fr. Arthur Cutajar OFM Conv. YouthLinks has as its first priority the raising of youths into fruitful Christians and people ready to tackle big challenges from daily life. Meetings occur every Friday at the St. Francis hall. The meetings are varied every time by discussions and also various speakers from every walk of life. Around the year YouthLinks also organize activities such as Pasta nights, Cold Buffet and High Teas. Often these activities are part of fund raising towards several institutions that are in need of money!

Scrooge is the first kind of play that YouthLinks are fully organizing and promise to be an entertaining evening. A special night will be organized for kids from different institutions around Malta and will be free of charge .Tickets for the Scrooge are Lm 1.25 for adults and 75c for children under 10 years and can be bought at the doors or else by calling the ticket hotline 79300584.
